Angel Square is one of London’s most ambitious façade refurbishments; and BB fiberbeton delivered more than 1,800 complex GRC elements to help realise it. The panels span approx. 5,000 m² unfolded GRC in total, and were produced in over 650 unique variants. Each one was cast in 15–20 mm GRC, and the majority of them have a washed surface that exposes Italian marble aggregates in red and brown tones, echoing the building’s original brickwork. Coloumns were produced in a striking dark tone, creating contrast to the otherwise light-coloured facade.
All elements were precision-engineered for tight tolerances and complex 3D geometries, including folds, returns, double-returns, and curved transitions. They were pre-assembled into unitised façade units by FKN in Poland and installed just-in-time in central London to reduce storage and speed up construction.
Angel Square has been redesigned with strong environmental goals and is targeting BREEAM Excellent, WELL Gold, and NABERS 5.5-star certification.
